US mag deletes and reposts Meghan Markle tweet to add ‘Duchess of Sussex’ title

Social media promotion for a New York magazine's exclusive interview with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was deleted and reposted – so that her royal title could be added in.

The tweet was posted to promote her new interview with glam US fashion mag The Cut, where the Suits star discussed a range of issues.

However, The Cut’s official Twitter account first posted the front page of their new issue, only to delete it minutes later and repost an almost identical tweet with just a couple of words tweaked.

Namely, the new post took out "Markle" and instead replaced it with the actress' royal moniker – Duchess of Sussex.

The original tweet said: “Presenting our Fall Fashion issue cover star: Meghan Markle.”

The replacement read: “Presenting our Fall Fashion issue cover star: Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.”

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the post, the original tweet read: “Now Markle is ready for her own next act.”

The new one, however, said: “Now she's ready for her own next act.”

It seems that an extra effort has been made to add in Meghan's royal title and was the key reason behind the reposted Tweet.

It’s not clear why the word Markle has been cut out at the end of the piece, however, the remainder of the post was exactly the same.

In the article, Meghan appears to take aim at the Royal Family’s policy regarding Instagram.

Speaking to The Cut, she said: "There’s literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota".

The 40-year-old said it frustrated her that she might have to give images of her child over to the rota before she could post them herself.

"Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?”

She added: "You tell me how that makes sense and then I’ll play that game."
