Queen’s agony as cousin and close friend Lady Elizabeth Shakerley dies

The Queen's cousin Lady Elizabeth Shakerley has died aged 79.

Better known professionally as Lady Elizabeth Anson, she took responsibility for throwing many of the Queen's private parties.

Lady Elizabeth was born in Windsor Castle in 1941 to parents, Viscount Thomas Anson and his wife, Anne Bowes-Lyon.

Her mother later became Princess Anne of Denmark when she remarried.

In 1960, Elizabeth founded an exclusive events company called Party Planners which was commissioned for many events within the royal houses, not least by the Queen.

She died in the early hours of Sunday morning with members of her family at her bedside.

Lady Elizabeth leaves one daughter and two grandchildren.
