Police ask for people to snitch on their ‘criminal’ ex-lovers on Valentine’s Day

A police department has left Facebook users in hysterics over a Valentine's Day plea for exes to snitch on their criminal former lovers.

February 14 may be an annual day of romance but the officers at Rockport, Georgia, US hope it will also prove to be one of justice against former flames.

The department announced on social media how it provides a stellar Valentine's Day package including a chauffer and luxurious overnight accommodation.

Rockport hope that the time of year will prove to be a reminder for members of the public to get their dodgy ex-lovers off the street and tried for their suspected crimes.

The post shared on the Rockport Police Department Facebook page on Wednesday reads: "Yesterday kicked off the month for celebrating the love in your life.

"And we don’t want you to forget those ex’s that did you wrong either!

"Do you have an ex-Valentine and know they have outstanding warrants? Do you have information that they are driving with drugs in their car? Give us a call with their location and we’ll take care of the rest."

Members of the public appear to have enjoyed the police force's unusual description of its station and custody treatment.

The announcement continued: "This Valentine’s Day Month-long Special starts off with a set of limited-edition platinum bracelets, free transportation with a chauffeur, a one-night minimum stay in luxurious accommodations and professional glamour shots that will be posted on online for all to enjoy. This special is capped off with a special Valentine’s dinner.

"We know this special is so incredible that you may be tempted to provide additional referrals. We don't blame you, this special is too sweet to pass up. Operators are standing by!"

Rockport admitted they copied the post from a Sheriff in eastern North Carolina but shared it because it "Seems like an excellent program to us!"

It may be a bit of fun the department insisted they expect the post to work.

They added: "(Laugh all you want, but someone reading this is about to call us and give someone up!)"

The post has been shared nearly 1,000 times but for every appreciative comment, there is one suggesting the police should spend less time making gags on social media.

One person commented: "Wow, what a meaningful Valentine's Day gift! So righteous! What a purposeful idea! I love it! Unless it is vindictive."

Others replied saying they would be fully on board if their exes were not already locked up.

Someone wrote: "Come on y’all you should already know my ex is in jail prison or rehab 365 days a year one of the 3. So I only wish I could maybe next year. She’s not paid court ordered child support in 7 yes now so one day."

"I love this! Best believe I'd sure call you if my ex wasn't already in Bartow jail, lol Just left polk county jail, smh," another joked.
