Mesa County sheriff’s deputies arrested an Arizona man Friday after they stopped a vehicle traveling 110 mph on Interstate 70 and found 29 pounds of cocaine and two guns, authorities said.
Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding in a 75-mph zone on I-70 near mile marker 7, according to a news release from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials said they seized roughly 29.2 pounds of cocaine and two handguns during the stop, prompting the arrest of Jaylin Lemons, 22, from Phoenix.
Lemons was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute more than 225 grams of cocaine, special offender for being in possession of a firearm and multiple traffic violations, sheriff’s officials said.
Lemons was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility.
