Meghan Markle slammed by royal insider after ‘stealing Camilla’s limelight’

Meghan Markle is facing criticism from a royal insider after “stealing Camilla Parker Bowles ’ limelight” by overshadowing a long-planned domestic violence speech .

Meghan, 38, is said to have broken a promise by insisting photos of her at a theatre were published on the same day the Duchess of Cornwall addressed an audience.

Prince Charles ’ wife, 72, was left “very upset” by the snub, having spent more than a year planning her speech, reports claim.

And now royal aides have blasted the Duchess of Sussex for “refusing to listen”.

One insider slammed Meghan, telling the Mirror: “Camilla’s work is very important to her and her decision to highlight the scourge of domestic violence at the 10th anniversary of Women of the World was a carefully thought-out plan.

“Over the last four years she has worked tirelessly, mostly behind the scenes but to great effect, to use her platform and personal experiences to highlight the issue and help sufferers.

"Of course it was known Harry and Meghan would be doing engagements this week, some privately, but everyone was in agreement that Camilla’s speech should take precedence.

“Unfortunately some people had other ideas.”

Insiders say Meghan ignored the advice of royal aides who were sacked after she and Prince Harry ’s shock Instagram announcement that they were quitting royal life.

It comes after Buckingham Palace issued an email informing news outlets about Meghan’s agreement with Camilla.

The message read: “Please note that media arrangements have been designed specifically with a view to allowing royal correspondents to focus on the Duchess of Cornwall’s engagement on Friday.”

Meghan and Harry were booed by crowds this week at their first royal engagement in London since their bombshell Instagram announcement in January.

She delayed promoting the visit to avoid it overshadowing her appearance with her husband at an awards ceremony in the capital, it has been claimed.

The couple are scheduled to attend a music festival at the Royal Albert Hall tonight before joining royal family members for a service at Westminster Abbey next Monday.

They are then scheduled to jet back to Canada to join son, Archie, before officially becoming financially independent at the end of the month.

It comes as the Queen is said to have been left “heartbroken” amid fears she could never see her great-grandson Archie again.
