Meghan Markle and son Archie ‘spoke to the Queen before Prince Philip’s funeral’

Meghan Markle and little Archie spoke to the Queen before the funeral of her late husband Prince Philip, a source has claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex reportedly spoke to the monarch ahead of the service and was in regular contact with husband Prince Harry and '"knows this trip to England has been difficult for him".

The 39-year-old stayed at their home in California when the Duke of Sussex travelled back to the UK to attend his grandfather's funeral, as she was advised not to travel due to her pregnancy.

Harry, 36, returned home to California from London Tuesday, missing the Queen's 95th birthday on Wednesday.

A source told People: "Meghan and Harry have been in touch every day.

"She knows the trip to England has been difficult for Harry. He didn't want to leave Meghan and Archie alone.

"Meghan has insisted to him every day though that they are fine. She hasn't wanted him to worry."

They added: "Meghan spoke with Harry before his grandfather's funeral. Meghan and Archie also spoke with the Queen earlier this week."

The Prince revealed to James Corden in an interview that his grandparents spoke to the family on Zoom, and said: "They've seen Archie running around."

It's believed Harry returning back to the US left the reported family rift unresolved after he only met once with his father Prince Charles and brother William, following the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh.

The royal siblings took 'baby steps' towards healing their relationship when the pair were spotted talking after the service.

'Peacemaker' Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, took several steps back to allow the brothers to chat, it's been said.

There was a face-to-face meeting within the grounds of the castle between the brothers and Prince Charles later, with royal expert Dan Wootton claiming they wanted to meet together instead of individually.

Sources also claimed Harry, who is expecting another child with Meghan, 39, was 'conflicted' over staying longer in the UK for the Queen's birthday.

The Prince will now begin a second 10-day quarantine, a requirement for international travellers flying to the US.

His visit to the UK was his first trip back to Britain in more than a year, after the couple moved to North America to start a new life.

Meghan, who is expecting a baby girl in the summer, sent a handwritten note and a wreath for the Royal Family for Prince Philip's funeral.
