Man’s tears after winning £250k Sky Sports Super 6 jackpot with last-minute goal

A lucky punter admitted he was reduced to tears after winning £250,000 on Sky Sports' Super 6 game thanks to a last-minute winner.

Chris Howell from Letchworth was one of many across the country to play the free score predictions quiz on Wednesday night for the latest round of Champions League fixtures – but he claimed the jackpot after guessing the results of all six matches correctly.

A goal from Napoli's on-loan Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the 91st-minute proved to be the decisive strike after several late goals saw Chris land a full house with his selections. He told Herts Live : “I had a look with about 85 mins gone, and I saw [Erling] Haaland had just scored [to give Manchester City the lead] and thought 'oh, I’m doing quite well' but I still had a few to get.

“I went off because we were watching [TV programme] Brassic, but I kept an eye on it, and I went 'Jesus, look at that, all six are in!' I kept checking them off through my results app: 'That’s finished, that’s finished, that’s finished…'

“I went 'Jesus, I’ve got all six.' I didn’t really know what to do. I rang my mate Zeb who set up the Super 6 League, and I was speaking to him until about 1am.”

The Super 6 game is free to play and gives users the chance to 'Challenge Jeff' – Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling – with points given for correct scores and results. However, only if a user can guess the score of all six matches exactly does the winner claim the £250k jackpot, with Mr Howell the first to do so this season.

Chris faced an agonising wait to have his win confirmed, though, as he did not hear from the competition organisers until the following morning. “You know when your team scores a goal, but you can’t really celebrate. This was like a 9-hour VAR decision!

“I’ve had tears, the realisation of it. It’s going to make our lives so much easier. We’ve got seven kids and seven grandkids and Christmas is coming!”

Chris’ winning predictions in full were:

  • Manchester City 3-1 Borussia Dortmund
  • Chelsea 1-1 RB Salzburg
  • Rangers 0-3 Napoli
  • Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig
  • Juventus 1-1 Benfica
  • Maccabi Haifa 1-3 PSG
  • Infamous El Chapo's nephew gunned down and killed while partying in busy town square

Napoli had only scored their second six minutes earlier, before Ndombele settled the tie with his goal in injury time. Man City had been trailing up until the 80th minute when John Stones levelled, before Haaland's acrobatic winner.

Real Madrid also left it late, scoring their opener in the 80th minute before Marco Asensio put the game beyond doubt in the 91st minute. Meanwhile, Chelsea conceded an equaliser in the 75th minute, while Neymar scored Paris Saint-Germain's third goal in the 88th minute, suggesting lucky really was on Mr Howell's side.
