Larimer County sheriff’s deputies and a suspected drunk driver exchanged gunfire in Berthoud on Wednesday night. The deputies were unharmed, and the driver was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to a sheriff’s office spokesperson.
Authorities say that around 10 p.m. Wednesday, a report came into the sheriff’s office that there was a possible drunk driver in Berthoud. Ten minutes later, the driver and sheriff’s deputies traded gunfire at Second Street and Welch Avenue.
The 8th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the incident.
Officials have not said if any bullets hit either the driver or any deputies. They have also not said how many deputies were involved.
