Google email service Gmail not working across globe with people fuming

Google email service Gmail has reportedly gone down, with thousands of users left fuming across the globe.

The issues were first reported this morning and are believed to also be affecting Google Drive and Slack.

The app is also not working for some users with complaints starting to flood in about 5.30am.

Thousands of tweets about the problems have been posted as people returned to their desks this morning, with problems sending emails, attaching files and error messages being received.

There are problems with Google Meet, Google Voice and Google Docs, while some report having issues uploading to YouTube as well.

In a status update Google said: "We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 4:00 AM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem."

It is still to be resolved with server outages being blamed, according to reports.

Venting on Twitter one user said: "Never imagined I’ll see the day where Google servers go down.2020 is really making history."

Others joked it meant they might not have to work today.

"That excited smile when the #Gmail is not working properly and the creative team has a list of pending work," one bloke joked.

One school due to send out GCSE results today tweeted: "There is currently a global issue affecting #GMAIL. Email delivery is currently delayed. Google are currently working on the faultGCSE results have been sent to all student school email addresses.

"Continue to check your mailboxes as your results should arrive soon".

Google's press office has been contacted by Daily Star Online for comment.
