Her friend Sirikanda Chaiburut said a wake will be held for Arisara until June 10, before a funeral on June 11.

“Everybody who knew Arisara is heartbroken,” Sirikanda said.

“We were shocked when the accident happened but we were all praying she would get better. She was so young and beautiful.

“I'm devastated she has gone forever.”

The model – also known as Alice – gained popularity for posting photos online, and in the online diet community when she lost just over a stone in three weeks.

Arisara's mother Supicha, 57, said the cosplay star, better known by her online alias Alicebambam, was "constantly busy" and had been rushing to fit in a meal between jobs when the kebab became lodged in her throat.

Arisara was taken to the hospital, but doctors said they were "nine minutes too late" and her brain had been deprived of oxygen for too long.

Arisara made headlines in 2015, when he was challenged by Shane Thana, the owner of diet food and supplement company Amado Thailand, to lose one and a half stone in three weeks. He said that if she did he'd give her a million Thai Bhat (about £23,000).

Thana had said that Arisara's mainly male fans were "disappointed" that she was heavier than she looked in her photos. She managed to lose the weight but then he said he'd only pay up if she lost more.
