Drug cartel lose guns, cash and alligator in police raid but pet tiger escapes

It was a busy day for officers who have collected a haul of drugs, guns and animals in a massive Mexican cartel bust.

It would appear that the police responsible for the Albuquerque, New Mexico bust are missing part of their expected bust though, and are still on the lookout for a missing tiger.

Raids on two homes in the New Mexico area last month provided ample takings of drugs and cash as well as 17 guns and a pet alligator which had all been left at the premises.

The young tiger is still being searched for and was reportedly being kept as an illegal pet.

Investigators currently searching for the tiger believe it will be with someone "in New Mexico or a nearby state", with an official statement released by New Mexico's Department of Game and Fish conservation.

Their statement read: "Exotic animals illegally held in captivity are often in very poor condition when conservation officers discover them due to a lack of proper care.

"Department investigators spend significant time on cases like this one. The tiger is believed to be less than 1 year old and likely weighs 30-60 pounds at present."

The department also made it very clear that tigers and alligators proved dangerous to the public, CBS News reported.

Albuquerque police reported that Carlos Giddings, 26, was arrested after investigators seized two pounds of heroin, 10.5 pounds of cocaine and 49 pounds of marijuana.

Officers responding to the raid of two homes also uncovered 17 rifles and pistols (including an AK-47 and AR-15), fentanyl and Xanax pills, as well as £35,810 ($42,000) in cash.

A statement released by Albuquerque Police Department on Twitter read: "APD’s Gun Violence Suppression Unit was assisting NM Game and Fish with a search warrant for the illegal possession of a tiger.

"Although the tiger wasn't located an alligator was along with large quantities of multiple types of drugs, rifles and cash."
