Canary Wharf tube station evacuated after ‘fire’ that leaves ‘foul smell’

Canary Wharf tube station has been evacuated following reports of fire.

One witness wrote: "Fire alarm triggered at Canary Wharf tube. Station evacuated. No Jubilee line trains stopping there."

People using the London Underground also complained of a foul smell.

One wrote: "Smells like a fire at Canary Wharf tube. Just alighted and alarm's going off. Stinks."

Another bystander said: "Tube driver refused to open doors because of a fire alert and went to next stop."

Others were asking why they could not enter the station.

London Fire Brigade told us: "The London Fire Brigade was called to smoke issuing from an escalator.

"We were called at 10:07am. We have two fire engines on the scene."
