Laura Loomer, 28, from Florida, spent the best part of the pandemic discrediting the seriousness of Covid and claiming the vaccine is a government ploy to control people. She told followers last year: “I hope I get Covid just so I can prove I have had food poisoning more serious and life threatening than a hyped up virus.”

Ms Loomer has previously attempted to run for election as a Republican and has been banned from Twitter and Uber because of her misleading and Islamophobic views.

Now, she has contracted a “brutal” case of Covid and is begging people to pray for her.

She told her 32,000 followers on Telegram: “Yesterday, I was feeling ill. I had a fever, chills, a runny nose, sore throat, nausea and severe body aches that made my whole body feel like I got hit by a bus.

“After sleeping for a few hours, my symptoms started to remind me how I felt when I had a bad case of the flu years ago.”

In a follow up post, she begged: “Just pray for me please. I can’t even begin to explain how brutal the body aches and nausea that come with Covid are. I am in so much pain.”

Ms Loomer had previously spouted that the vaccine was unsafe and refused to have it.

In an extreme post, she told her followers: “These Covid vaccines are poison to your body and a control mechanism for the federal government to track and surveil you.”

Even after contracting Covid, she maintains that she will not get the vaccine because she will have “natural immunity”.

Official NHS advice ensures the public that the Covid vaccines are safe, effective and provide the best protection against the virus.
