11:42 Commons racism debate sparks anger

Ahead of PMQs, anger over racism is continuing to grow in Westminster.

This afternoon an emergency debate is taking place on racist abuse targeted online.

However, Labour’s shadow women and equalities secretary has pointed out not a single black MP has been chosen to speak in the debate.

She wrote on Twitter: “Very disappointed not to be selected to speak in parliament today on racist online abuse.

“The draw is random but it doesn’t seem right that there is not a single Black MP on the call list for this debate.”

11:17 45 minutes to go

Under an hour until Boris Johnson takes his place at the dispatch box.

The racism row of the past 48 hours is likely to dominate the debate today.

Expect the Prime Minister to be vocal and firm in attacking those who have directed racism in recent days.

After he hosted social media executives at No10 last night you can also expect for him to say he is demanding big tech firms do more to stamp out racism online.
