Adams County Commissioner Chaz Tedesco running for 8th Congressional District

A second Democrat, Adams County Commissioner Charles “Chaz” Tedesco, has jumped into the race to represent Colorado’s new 8th Congressional District.

The 55-year-old Navy veteran from Commerce City joins Democratic state Rep. Yadira Caraveo and Republican Giulianna “Jewels” Gray, a professional photographer from Brighton, as the candidates for a district whose boundaries have not been formally set.

The redistricting commission submitted a final map last week for all eight congressional districts to the Colorado Supreme Court, which is expected to finalize it in December. The new district will stretch from Greeley in the north to Commerce City in the south and will likely be the state’s most politically competitive congressional district.

Tedesco was elected to his third term as an Adams County commissioner in November. Before his move into local government, Tedesco worked as a master industrial mechanic for a manufacturing company. He also served as president of the United Steel Workers of America Local 8031 union from 2005 to 2013.
